Doug and Debby Pileri only started ballroom dancing three years ago but have found success quickly.
The Carmel couple was named the USA Dance National Senior Amateur champions for ages 50 and over, winning the title in USA Dance National Ballroom DanceSport Championships in Pittsburgh April 1, Debby’s 66th birthday.
“We’re honored and amazed to be national champions, but for us, medals and titles are just the icing on the cake,” Debby Pileri said. “Our goal is to have fun, to enjoy being ourselves in an environment full of encouragement. We’re thankful for the support of our family and friends, and we feed off their energy. We love to watch and encourage our fellow dancers, in all age groups, and to celebrate whoever wins.”…
