MILWAUKEE — Milwaukee City Attorney Evan Goyke says a tougher approach to reckless driving prosecutions is producing results.
According to data released Wednesday, conviction rates for actively litigated first-offense reckless driving cases in Milwaukee Municipal Court have increased from 15 percent in 2023 to 84 percent in 2025 since the city implemented a coordinated enforcement policy in October 2024.
At the same time, prosecutors have stopped reducing reckless driving charges to lesser offenses. In 2023, roughly 65 percent of those cases ended with reduced charges. That number has now dropped to zero, according to the City Attorney’s Office…
