HAYWOOD COUNTY, N.C. (FOX Carolina) – The United States Geological Survey reported a late-night earthquake in western North Carolina on Thursday.
Officials said the 1.6-magnitude quake hit 7.1 miles southeast of Waynesville at 11:48 p.m. It had a depth of nine kilometers.
