The Bay Area’s newest food hall will bring restaurants with Michelin-star cred to an unlikely location: a sprawling biotech campus in South San Francisco.
Omakase World Market, opening today at 800 Gateway Blvd. on the Gateway of Pacific campus, will feature multiple projects from prominent Bay Area hospitality company Omakase Restaurant Group, which operates the Michelin-starred Niku Steakhouse, Omakase in San Francisco and dim sum chain Dumpling Time, among other brands. The 50,000-square-foot food hall, a partnership with BioMed Realty, which owns the Gateway of Pacific campus, will house the second Butcher Shop by Niku (a more casual Niku spinoff known for its burger) and sixth Dumpling Time, as well as new concepts Omakase World Market executive chef Thomas Lee, previously of Quince and Proper Hotel, and Niku executive chef Dustin Falcon. They include Kyoto Senses, a daytime matcha café and bakery, and Campo, with an Italian menu designed by Lee.
