A family of four is homeless after neighbors rushed to rescue residents Wednesday afternoon from a burning row home in Allentown, a city fire official said.
City Assistant Fire Chief Jon Steed said flames ignited around 1 p.m. at the three-story row home in the 300 block of North Railroad Street. Responding crews with the Allentown Fire Department found flames on the main level and heavy smoke on the other levels, he said.
Before firefighters arrived, neighbors and bystanders helped rescue the family trapped inside, Steed said. A child and adult were rescued from the roof and windows “as smoke filled the structure,” he said…
