Animal control officer’s determination pays off after man arrested for ‘brutally’ killing cat

(FOX40.COM) — A man was arrested for “brutally” killing a neighborhood cat thanks to the hard work of a Sacramento County animal control officer.

On April 21, at about 5 a.m., a security camera caught a man walking up to the front porch of a residence, approaching the front door and killing a “beloved” neighborhood cat in what county officials described Tuesday as a “horrifying act of animal cruelty.”

When the resident discovered the recording, she called 911 and reported the crime to Sacramento County Animal Services.

The case was assigned to Animal Control Officer Zoe McCurnin, who noticed the suspect traveled to the scene on an electric scooter and surmised he likely lived nearby. She went to the neighborhood where she began going door-to-door, asking nearby residents for information and seeking out other home security cameras…
