GREENVILLE, S.C. (WCIV) — A close encounter with a bear in northern South Carolina has prompted state officials to remind the public of the precautions to take and how to deal with these creatures safely.
Last week, a report from the City of Greenville stated that a local supervisor spotted a Black bear running down the street of a residential neighborhood and into the backyard of one of the properties. A second sighting of the animal was reported later on in the same area.
This is not the first time a bear has made headlines in our state, and it won’t be the last. Black bear sightings are expected to peak later in the summer as the species undergoes an intense feeding frenzy known as hyperphagia to prepare for winter hibernation…
