KALAMAZOO, Mich. (WOOD) — A problem with the air conditioning forced the courthouse in downtown Kalamazoo to close Wednesday.
News 8 saw signs taped to the doors of the Judge Charles A. Pratt Justice Center directing people to other locations. Anyone who was set to appear before the 9th Circuit Court was told to go to the Gull Road Justice Complex and call 269.385.6000 for questions.
The offices for the 8th District Court were closed, though the court said scheduled proceedings and in-custody arraignments would still be held at the justice center. Emergency matters were redirected to the Gull Road complex.
In a release, the court cited “unexpected HVAC system maintenance during the current Extreme Heat Warning” as the reason for the closure, effective at 10 a.m. It said the building got as hot as 85 degrees, “making it necessary to close the building to protect employees, court personnel, and visitors.”…
