Man charged after Highway 212 pursuit tops 100 mph

A man has been charged after a criminal complaint says he led Eden Prairie police on a Highway 212 pursuit that topped 100 mph before officers used a tire-deflation device about 20 miles into the pursuit.

Pierre Pearson Joplin, 34, listed in current jail and court records as living in Crystal , was charged June 22 in Hennepin County District Court with felony fleeing a peace officer in a motor vehicle and misdemeanor obstruction of legal process.

According to the complaint, Eden Prairie police saw a vehicle speeding west on Highway 212 near Shady Oak Road at about 8:10 p.m. June 21. Police clocked the vehicle at 78 mph in a 60-mph zone…
