BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — The Village People concert set for July 17 at Batavia Downs will still go on after the death of frontman Victor Willis earlier this week.
Willis died at 74 on Tuesday following a short illness. He was also one of the band’s co-founders.
The band, formed in 1977 and known for its hits “Y.M.C.A.” and “Macho Man,” is currently touring overseas with its next shows scheduled for July 12 in Sicily, Italy and July 13 in Rome. The Batavia Downs show is set to be their first show in the U.S. after returning to the country. Batavia Downs said the show will go on “at the request of the Village People themselves.”…
