HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – New documents reveal UPS never required inspections that might have helped identify the problem that caused an engine to fly off moments before a UPS plane crashed in Louisville, Kentucky, last fall.
The plane, bound for Honolulu, crashed shortly after take off in November, killing three pilots and 12 people on the ground.
In documents submitted to the National Transportation Safety Board, UPS said Boeing told them that a failure of enhanced bearings inside the pylons would not jeopardize safety. For that reason, UPS says enhanced inspections never were required…
