CHICAGO — A round of storms toppled trees around Chicagoland overnight, including one that derailed a CTA Yellow Line train.
Following a fourth straight day of sweltering heat and humidity, thunderstorms exploded to life on Thursday evening. The thunderstorms were accompanied by nearly continuous lightning, gusty winds, and drenching downpours.
