Siler City woman charged in elder exploitation case

Siler City, NC – The Chatham County Sheriff’s Office has charged a Siler City woman following an investigation into the financial exploitation of an elderly family member.

The investigation began on Oct. 6, 2025, after the Chatham County Department of Social Services (DSS) reported concerns that the victim’s finances were being misused by his niece and power of attorney, Maggi Elizabeth Brady, 37, of 210 Herb Beavers Road, Siler City.

During its Adult Protective Services investigation, DSS determined that the victim was unaware of the status of his finances, including his financial institutions, investment accounts and numerous financial transactions. DSS provided investigators with bank records for the victim.

After reviewing those records, investigators identified numerous transactions involving accounts associated with Brady. Investigators obtained search warrants which were served on multiple businesses and financial institutions…
