WHEELING, W.Va. (WTRF) — The National Weather Service has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch for much of eastern Ohio as dangerous heat continues across the Ohio Valley on Independence Day.
The watch remains in effect until 9 p.m. Saturday and includes several counties in the 7News viewing area, including Belmont, Carroll, Columbiana, Coshocton, Guernsey, Harrison, Holmes, Jefferson, Monroe, Muskingum, Noble, Stark and Tuscarawas counties.
The watch means conditions are favorable for severe thunderstorms capable of producing damaging wind gusts, large hail and frequent lightning. Residents are encouraged to monitor weather conditions and be prepared to seek shelter if warnings are issued.
The severe weather threat comes as an Extreme Heat Warning remains in effect until 8 p.m. Saturday for portions of eastern Ohio, southwestern Pennsylvania and northern West Virginia…
