A South Loop nanny’s routine morning walk with a one-year-old quickly turned terrifying when a man allegedly groped her and dragged her to the ground, sending the baby’s stroller rolling into traffic, according to prosecutors. The 29-year-old suspect was arrested nearby and has now been ordered held in custody while the case moves forward in Cook County court.
Authorities say the attack happened just before 9 a.m. on June 16 in the 1600 block of South Michigan Avenue, a busy stretch where plenty of people were out and about. The victim, a 53-year-old caregiver, was shaken but not seriously injured. Witnesses flagged down officers, and the woman later identified the man police had detained as the attacker.
According to CWBChicago, prosecutors say the man, identified in court records as 29-year-old Brandon Henderson, first tugged at the woman’s sweatshirt sleeve.
