Navy Pier officials say they are “disappointed” after fog impacted the visibility of a massive Fourth of July fireworks display on Saturday, but they’re offering residents an interesting freebie as a result.
Fog rolled in off of Lake Michigan during the late afternoon hours on Saturday and persisted into the evening, adding an eerie element to the fireworks display that Navy Pier officials described as its “largest and longest” show ever produced.
The show, coinciding with the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, was intended to be a celebration of the United States and its history, but visitors to the Pier and the surrounding areas were left with limited views of the display due to the heavy fog that rolled in following showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon…
