SEDGWICK COUNTY — A Kansas man who admitted responsibility for a fatal hit-and-run crash that killed a bicyclist will avoid prison time.
On Thursday, Judge Phillip Journey sentenced 21-year-old Blaine Hughes of Wichita, to 36 months probation for the death of bicyclist 57-year-old Daniel Forshey,, according to the Sedgwick County District Attorney’s office.
In May Hughes pleaded guilty to failing to stop at an accident that resulted in Forshey’s death.
Just after 9 p.m. September 17, police were dispatched to the scene of a reported hit-and-run at the intersection of Murdock and Broadway in Wichita. First responders found 57-year-old Daniel Forshey lying in the roadway. Sedgwick County EMS arrived shortly after and pronounced Forshey dead at 9:11 p.m…
