BATON ROUGE, La. (NEWS 15) — Homeowners and renters in four Louisiana parishes affected by Tropical Storm Arthur, including St. Landry and Avoyelles, may be eligible for federal disaster assistance through FEMA, the agency announced.
Financial assistance is available to eligible residents in Avoyelles, St. Landry, St. Tammany, and Terrebonne parishes, which sustained damage from the storm on June 17-18. FEMA may be able to help with serious needs, displacement assistance, basic home repair costs, personal property loss, and other disaster-caused needs.
Survivors with flood insurance are encouraged to file a claim with their flood insurance provider first, then apply for FEMA assistance. By law, FEMA cannot duplicate benefits for losses already covered by insurance.
