RIVIERA BEACH, Fla. (CBS12) — A former Riviera Beach police officer was sentenced to a little over 18 years in prison after he was convicted of vehicular homicide in April.
The Palm Beach County State Attorney’s Office said that on June 18, 2023, Carl Johnson was on duty and driving a marked patrol vehicle at 94 mph in a 35 mph zone without his emergency lights or siren activated. Prosecutors said Johnson crashed into another vehicle at a Riviera Beach intersection, killing a 43-year-old driver and his 29-year-old fiancée.
