New Spanish Fort waterfront park expected to open late this summer despite delays

SPANISH FORT, Ala.  (WKRG) — A new waterfront park overlooking Mobile Bay is getting closer to opening in Spanish Fort, but summer weather has slowed construction slightly.

Valor Park, a two-acre park along the Causeway, has faced a few delays since construction began. Spanish Fort Mayor Brad Bass said the summer rain and heat have impacted work.

“There have been some delays. Unfortunately, that always happens with weather in the summertime with construction,” Bass said.

The project’s groundbreaking was also pushed back because of construction on the new Tensaw River Bridge, which is expected to be completed in late 2027…
