OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – A Bellevue senior citizen attacked by a neighbor’s dog six years ago is still waiting for justice. The pet owner failed to appear for a court date last week, and an arrest warrant has now been issued.
The attack and the conviction
A neighbor’s dog attacked Cliff Shepoka in 2020, leaving bite wounds that have since healed. After a conviction for numerous Bellevue animal code violations — including harboring a dangerous dog — Jesus Valles was court-ordered to pay Shepoka more than $4,000 for medical costs. In six years, Valles has paid $305.
“I just figured he’s just sticking his nose up to the law because he’s not following the law at all,” Shepoka said.
Warrant issued
Valles did not appear for his eighth court appearance last week. A warrant for his arrest has been issued.
