Lake Worth Beach man accused of trying to sell rare hawksbill sea turtle shell

LAKE WORTH, Fla. (CBS12) — A Lake Worth Beach man is facing a felony charge after investigators said he tried to sell a rare sea turtle shell on Facebook Marketplace.

According to a probable cause affidavit from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, 63-year-old Addison Kelly Mullen was charged with conservation-animals — destroy, sell or molest turtle species, hatchlings, eggs or nests, a third-degree felony.

FWC said the investigation began June 30, when a Boynton Beach police officer contacted the agency about a Facebook Marketplace listing for a “rare turtle shell.” The listing described the shell as being in “perfect condition” and priced it at $2,700, according to the affidavit…
