Wesley Bell’s security team assaulted protesters at 2025 town hall, lawsuit alleges

Five attendees at a town hall that U.S. Rep. Wesley Bell held last August filed a lawsuit Thursday against the first-term congressman and members of his security team, alleging they were assaulted during the event.

The lawsuit, filed in state court in St. Louis, names Bell and seven others hired to provide security. It argues the security personnel committed battery, assault and negligence.

“These private security guards, including police officers working secondary (jobs), grabbed Representative Bell’s constituents by the throat, threw them against the wall, and knocked them to the ground,” the lawsuit states. “Representative Bell’s employees had no justification for their assault and battery on his constituents and caused them physical and psychological damages.”…
