DENVER (KDVR) — An extensive search for a potential fire started by a lightning strike during Wednesday’s storm highlighted the need for quick responses to prevent major incidents during Colorado’s historic drought and amid other major wildfires this summer.
Just before 4 p.m. Wednesday, Arvada Fire crews responded to a reported vegetation fire west of Colorado 93 between White Ranch Park and Mount Galbraith. A 911 caller reported seeing smoke after a lightning strike.
Firefighters launched the search in the area, splitting up and looking for any signs of a fire. Multiple other callers also reported seeing smoke in the area.
