PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WJAR) — A Broad Street nightclub tied to weekend violence is free to reopen with zero restrictions after the city’s licensing board rejected a proposed safety agreement, calling the plan too lenient.
The Providence Board of Licenses on Wednesday swiftly turned down a recommendation by the city to place Lovera VIP under 90 days of mandatory police detail. Because the board rejected the proposal without issuing an alternative penalty, the temporary three-day emergency closure expired, allowing the club to resume normal operations immediately with no fines or extra security.
