OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – Release Inc., an Omaha nonprofit specializing in foster care services, announced plans Thursday to build a new childcare facility designed to serve children in the foster care system who are dealing with trauma.
The center will be located at Emmanuel Fellowship Church and will operate as a daycare while also providing therapy services for children and their families. Release Inc. says it will be the first facility of its kind in the Omaha metro area.
Nebraska’s Foster Care Review Office reports there are just under 1,400 children in the foster care system in Douglas County — more than any other county in the state.
