Shuttered Marietta Kroger to become fitness center

ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) — Plans to turn a former Cobb County Kroger into a fitness center were approved by the Marietta City Council on Wednesday night.

Habersham Partners, an Atlanta-based real estate company, proposed turning the more than 48,000-square-foot space at 1122 Powers Ferry Rd. into an EōS Fitness. The council agreed but said it has to make improvements to the 1982 building and the surrounding property — including a refurbished parking lot with tree-lined islands.

A proposal to tear down the building and build 322 apartments with ground-level retail spaces was shut down in 2023, the same year the Kroger location closed.
