EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — As the new school year approaches, El Paso ISD wants to remind families that students must attend 90 percent of the school days or class periods to receive course credit or a final grade.
For elementary students, missing more than 17 days during a typical school year may affect whether they automatically can earn credit or a final grade, EPISD said.
In middle and high school, attendance is tracked by individual class periods each semester, so repeatedly missing the same class can become an issue even if a student attends school the rest of the day. In middle school, missing a class more than eight times in the fall semester or more than nine times in spring semester will result in loss of credit.
