LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. — A Gwinnett County judge has ordered Sheriff Keybo Taylor to restore a bail bonding company’s authority to operate in the county, concluding that the Sheriff’s Office rule used to deny the company’s renewal violated Georgia law and constitutional due process protections.
Gwinnett County Superior Court Senior Judge David Irwin issued the order this week in favor of The Bondsman, ending another chapter in a legal dispute that began shortly after Taylor took office in 2021.
The ruling follows years of litigation surrounding Taylor’s decision to reduce the number of professional bonding companies authorized to write bonds in Gwinnett County, a move that prompted multiple lawsuits and allegations of political retaliation.
