Proposed Mobile County data center sparks frustration as residents press commissioners for answers

MOBILE, Ala.  (WKRG) — Residents opposed a proposed data center in northern Mobile County in Monday’s Mobile County Commission meeting, demanding answers about a project they fear could change their community.

The proposed development from Beacon Data Centers would include a 95-acre Infrastructure Hub on a 650-acre industrial parcel off Highway 43 in Calvert. The company has said the project would bring hundreds of jobs to the area.

But residents told commissioners they are more concerned about the potential impact on their quality of life than the economic benefits.
