TROY — A new laundromat, billed by its owner as the largest laundry facility in the Capital Region, is now open in the city’s Lansingburgh neighborhood.
Mayor Carmella Mantello, Troy city staff and Rensselaer County officials joined Al Alyari, owner of Troy Mega Laundromat and CEO of Advance Financials, at the Fifth Avenue business to celebrate its grand opening in a warehouse building that was damaged in a fire a few years ago.
“This was a big risk. The largest laundromat in the Burgh and Troy, but we did not just want to have a place where people wash their clothes. We wanted to give an experience,” Alyari said during the ceremony. “We hope that we could make people of Troy proud that this is something right here in the middle of Fifth Avenue. Lansingburgh deserves better investments and bigger investments, and hopefully things will only get better.”…
