West Valley mall stabbing was religiously motivated, documents say

WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah (ABC4) — A man has been arrested for attempted murder after allegedly stabbing an employee at Valley Fair Mall on Monday.

On Monday around 2:30 p.m., police were dispatched to Valley Fair Mall after calls expressing a physical altercation had occurred, which involved a man stabbing another.

Upon arrival, officers found mall bystanders had pinned Peter Michael Larsen, 48, to the ground and had removed a knife from his hand. Officers took Larsen into custody. He has been booked into the Salt Lake County Jail for attempted murder and prohibited dangerous weapon conduct…
