Special Kneads and Treats needs public’s help to stay open

A Lawrenceville bakery that provides jobs for people with special needs is facing some dire financial issues and its owners are calling on the community to help out.

Special Kneads and Treats currently employs 34 people with disabilities who make cakes and other treats. They also make birthday cakes that the bakery provides, free of charge, for children of families who could otherwise not afford one.

But, 2026 has not been kind financially to Special Kneads and co-founders Michael and Tempa Kohler are challenging supporters in the community to help them raise $250,000 by the end of this year to keep the bakery’s doors open. The goal is to reach that goal by raising $10,000 per week…
