A shooting incident that began in Citrus County on Monday ended with a suspect being apprehended inside the Walmart Supercenter on Cortez Boulevard.
Steven Sheehan, a 39-year-old Dunnellon resident, was wanted on charges of aggravated assault with a fireman from an incident near the Publix at the intersection of U.S. 19 and U.S. 98, just over the county line into Citrus. This occurred just before 8 a.m. and at 8:05 a.m. Sheehan fled an attempted traffic stop while driving on Forest Oaks Boulevard.
Deputies spotted him again at the Walmart, where he drove right up to the doors, placed two guns on top of his car and ran into the store. He was immediately followed in by a deputy who knocked him down and arrested him near the customer service area at the front of the store.
