Denver weather: Still dry and hot, but pattern changes ahead

DENVER (KDVR) — The Denver weather forecast grows a few degrees hotter heading into the weekend with no threat of approaching any records.

However, dry weather will continue to dominate along the Front Range until next week while parts of the high country receive repeated rounds of afternoon monsoon storms.

In the meantime, today is another ozone action day as air quality stays on the unhealthy side for vulnerable groups of people.

Weather today: Hot and plenty of sunshine

Skies will stay fairly sunny with a few afternoon clouds providing some periodic shade. Temperatures will reach the lower to middle 90s with a light breeze while the mountains will get another push of monsoon moisture.

Weather tonight: Clear and staying mild

Temperatures will fall into the middle 60s with mostly clear skies.

Looking ahead: Rain chances returns

While the northern Front Range will remain fairly dry through Saturday, rain chances will begin to increase starting Sunday. Until then, temperatures will soar back into the upper 90s before quickly falling back to much cooler values in the 80s next week.

Sunshine continues through the majority of our weekend outside of a very isolated storm on Sunday. More widespread storms are likely by Monday through Wednesday with Tuesday currently shaping up to be the best opportunity for rain.

Due to our drought conditions, model guidance is struggling with the potential coverage of moisture in the extended forecast. Therefore, these rain chances are subject to change so continue to check back for updates…
