Variable speed limits removed from I-465 after spending $446,000 on them two years ago

INDIANAPOLIS – Some road signs aren’t working right now on I-465, and it’s because a new state law forced a change.

Sheets of metal now cover the variable speed limit signs posted on the interstate. These signs were used to reduce the speed in the hopes of reducing crashes.

“Whenever traffic gets backed up, they’ll probably slow it down then, so you don’t got people speeding 65 into like a dead stop,” said one driver, Isiah Breedlove…
