DPW operations closed remainder of Thursday due to extreme heat

BALTIMORE (WBFF) — The Baltimore City Department of Public Works (DPW) closed its solid waste operations on Thursday, July 16 due to poor air quality and extreme heat, said officials.

The Quarantine Road Landfill, Northwest Transfer Station, and all Residential Recycling Drop-Off Centers closed early at 2 p.m. on Thursday, to support the safety and well-being of employees working outdoors.

DPW was unable to complete all trash and recycling routes, and residents are advised to leave their trash and recycling in place until collection is completed on Friday, July 17…
