Memphis gynecologist appeals 20-year sentence

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The East Memphis gynecologist sentenced to two decades in federal prison for reusing improperly cleaned medical devices while also defrauding federal healthcare systems has filed an appeal.

Dr. Sanjeev Kumar filed an appeal Thursday, July 16, in a U.S. District Court for the Western District of Tennessee. Kumar’s appeal would be heard in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit.
