JTRAN union workers enter fourth day of strike

JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – The Amalgamated Transit Union (ATU) Local-1208 entered their fourth day on strike against MV Transportation, the contractor for JTRAN. The workers aired their grievances against unqualified replacement drivers that they said have fallen on deaf ears.

As the JTRAN workers continue to strike, the ATU said MV Transportation has yet to listen to their demands and refuses to meet and discuss their grievances.

Jackson maintaining JTRAN services amid strike, city says

“We’re still waiting on some reaction from MV Transportation. So far, we’ve heard nothing,” said Local-1208 President/Business Agent Charles Tornes, Jr. “We remain willing and ready to get back to the bargaining table, but we’ve heard nothing from them.”

According to a statement released by the ATU, the drivers replacing the striking JTRAN drivers are not required to have a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) which could put JTRAN passengers at risk…
