DENVER (KDVR) — A critical incident investigation is underway following a man’s death while in police custody on July 14 in Denver.
The incident initially began around 4:22 p.m. on July 14 when a 911 call reported a fight in the 2100 block of East Colfax, with a caller reporting that a man in his underwear was attempting to carjack him.

A person in the vehicle reportedly fought the man to get him outside of the car, and Denver police said that evidence verified the man was struck in the head and upper body before being pulled out of the car.
The man walked away, and shortly thereafter, reports came in that the man walked into a nearby business and caused a disturbance. Denver police arrived at the scene and approached the man, who reportedly showed signs of heavy breathing as he began yelling…
