AIKEN, S.C. (WRDW/WAGT) – Two dogs rescued from a mass animal cruelty case in Georgetown County, South Carolina, are now available for free adoption at the SPCA Albrecht Center in Aiken.
The SPCA partnered with the Charleston Animal Society to assist with the rescue. A total of 125 animals were found dead on the property. 123 surviving dogs are now spread across shelters in Ohio, Virginia, and North and South Carolina. Two of those dogs — Pecan and Wesley — are now at the Aiken shelter.

“They are friendly dogs,” said Jaden Garrett with the SPCA Albrecht Center. “They are still dog testing to see if they are good with other dogs, they seem to be and get along with each other. See if they get along with cats.”
Shelter capacity and community support
Garrett said the shelter’s ability to respond to cases like this one depends on community involvement.
“The more we have adoptions, the more that we have fosters, the more donations we have creates more space and more resources for us to go out in the community and find those animals in need and bring them back and get medical attention and find them better homes,” Garrett said…
