AIKEN, S.C. (WRDW/WAGT) – The owner of Taj Aiken says he knew for years that his restaurant would eventually have to make way for the Hotel Aiken renovation and a new parking garage — but he did not expect to receive only 20 days’ notice to vacate.
Alok Kumar Akse, who has owned Taj Aiken since 2019, said he received the notice from the city on Monday. He has been on a month-to-month lease throughout that time.
“It was shocking news for me for 20 days. I feel it’s a little bit unfair to give 20 days notice because it’s not an office to move in 20 days,” Akse said. “I know it was coming, but not that fast.”…
