WAXHAW, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — An RV park was evacuated on Saturday afternoon due to a large brush fire in the area, according to the Waxhaw Fire Department.
Due to the terrain, gusty winds, and hot conditions, a fire rapidly grew in the JAARS community. Officials said residents of the evacuated RV park were able to safely return after a few hours.
To help keep the blaze under control, the North Carolina Forest Service used a bulldozer to cut containment lines around the fire.
