BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A Buffalo man was killed in a Thruway crash in Evans early Sunday morning, New York State Police said.
Andre Akin, 33, died from the crash. A preliminary investigation found that Akin was driving a Kia sedan in the passing lane around 4:30 a.m. when the Kia moved into the driving lane and collided with a tractor trailer, officials said. Both vehicles struck the guard rail, and the tractor trailer then impaled the Kia sedan. Officials said the driver of the tractor trailer showed no signs of impairment.
Akin was pronounced dead at the scene, and the driver of the tractor trailer was taken to the Erie County Medical Center with minor injuries.
