IDEM issues Air Quality Action Day for Monday; Southwest Indiana under Orange alert

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEVV) — The Indiana Department of Environmental Management has issued an Air Quality Action Day for Monday, July 20, citing smoke and weather conditions expected to push fine particulate pollution higher across the state — including Southwest Indiana.

IDEM’s updated forecast calls for “Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups” (Orange) air quality in Southwest Indiana, which includes Evansville, Princeton, Mount Vernon, Vincennes, Tell City, Huntingburg, Rockport, Paoli, Bedford and surrounding communities.

In an AQAD, IDEM encourages residents — especially those with heart or lung disease, older adults, children, and people who are pregnant — to limit prolonged or heavy exertion outdoors if air quality worsens…
