ST. LUCIE COUNTY, Fla. (CBS12) — A driver was rescued and taken to a local hospital after becoming trapped inside an overturned vehicle near a St. Lucie County intersection on Monday.
The St. Lucie County Fire District said its crews responded to a single-vehicle rollover near the intersection of Glades Cut Off Road and Selvitz Road on July 20. When firefighter-paramedics arrived, they found the vehicle resting in a ditch with one occupant trapped inside.
Rescuers worked to safely extricate the individual from the wreckage. According to the fire district, crews used a Stokes basket, a specialized rescue stretcher designed to safely transport patients across difficult terrain, to remove the occupant from the ditch after the extrication.
The occupant was then transported to a local hospital for further evaluation. Officials have not released the extent of the person’s injuries…
