WASHINGTON (DC News Now) — Police said that a Maryland man is facing charges for driving under the influence after a pedestrian died a week after a crash in D.C.
U.S. Park Police officers responded to the intersection of 14th Street and Independence Avenue SW for a reported crash involving a pedestrian around 9 p.m. on July 5. Responding officers found 79-year-old Virginia Voight of Palmyra, New Jersey, with serious injuries in the road.
A helicopter took her to a hospital for treatment. She died due to her injuries there on July 12.
