WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — Gov. Laura Kelly stopped in Wichita on Monday to ceremonially sign a bill that established the Kansas Railroad Hall of Fame.
The Great Plains Transportation Museum will house the hall of fame, which was made possible by a bill passed this year by the Kansas Legislature.
Kelly said in addition to recognizing the people who are currently working on Kansas railroads, the hall of fame will highlight the rail industry’s history.
“Railroads have shaped Kansas since the very beginning,” she said during the ceremony. “They populated our towns, they connected our communities, they built our economy and ultimately they made our state the agricultural and manufacturing powerhouse it is today.”
