Four schools in Cumberland County began classes Thursday, July 16. Anne Chesnutt Middle School, E.E. Miller Elementary School, Reid Ross Classical Middle School, and Reid Ross Classical High School all started weeks before other district buildings, accordig to the CityView.
The Board of Education voted in March to reverse an earlier decision. That decision would have moved E.E. Miller Elementary to a traditional calendar. Parents fought back. Teachers protested. Both groups argued the year-round schedule worked better for their families and provided steadier learning.
