PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — One of three men accused in the 2024 shooting death of 18-year-old Darmani Balbuena has been granted bail with conditions, court records show.
Julien Santiago, 22, was released on a $40,000 surety bond last Wednesday, according to court records, following a monthslong bail hearing that began in March.

He is one of three accused of first-degree murder, conspiracy, and two weapons related charges in the shooting death of Balbuena, who was shot and killed Aug. 25, 2024 while standing in the driveway of his Rhodes Street home.
Last year, the Providence County Grand Jury returned an indictment charging Santiago, his brother Jalen Santiago, and Jose Diaz with first-degree murder, conspiracy, discharging a firearm during a crime of violence resulting in death, and carrying a firearm without a license.
